Scarecrow Head Process

Here are some pictures of the process I used for making the scarecrow head for the Atlanta Botanical Gardens. I tried to make it as durable as possible since it will be outside for a full month.

I started with a large plastic Easter egg with wood through the middle and then filled with spray foam to keep everything in place.

Then I added Model Magic to the egg to get all the face features.

Then I covered the whole head with muslin fabric dipped in waterproof glue.

Then covered the head with burlap dipped in waterproof glue for the final look.

For the last step I added paint to give it a finished look.
